Ash-Shuara

فَٱتَّقُوا۟

fa-ittaqū

So fear

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

Allah

وَأَطِيعُونِ

wa-aṭīʿūni

and obey me

وَمَآ

wamā

And not

أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ

asalukum

I ask you

عَلَيْهِ

ʿalayhi

for it

مِنْ

min

any

أَجْرٍ ۖ

ajrin

payment

إِنْ

in

Not

أَجْرِىَ

ajriya

(is) my payment

إِلَّا

illā

except

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

from

رَبِّ

rabbi

(the) Lord

ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

l-ʿālamīna

(of) the worlds

أَتَبْنُونَ

atabnūna

Do you construct

بِكُلِّ

bikulli

on every

رِيعٍ

rīʿin

elevation

ءَايَةًۭ

āyatan

a sign

تَعْبَثُونَ

taʿbathūna

amusing yourselves

وَتَتَّخِذُونَ

watattakhidhūna

And take for yourselves

مَصَانِعَ

maṣāniʿa

strongholds

لَعَلَّكُمْ

laʿallakum

that you may

تَخْلُدُونَ

takhludūna

live forever

وَإِذَا

wa-idhā

And when

بَطَشْتُم

baṭashtum

you seize

بَطَشْتُمْ

baṭashtum

you seize

جَبَّارِينَ

jabbārīna

(as) tyrants

فَٱتَّقُوا۟

fa-ittaqū

So fear

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

Allah

وَأَطِيعُونِ

wa-aṭīʿūni

and obey me

وَٱتَّقُوا۟

wa-ittaqū

And fear

ٱلَّذِىٓ

alladhī

the One Who

أَمَدَّكُم

amaddakum

has aided you

بِمَا

bimā

with what

تَعْلَمُونَ

taʿlamūna

you know

أَمَدَّكُم

amaddakum

He has aided you

بِأَنْعَـٰمٍۢ

bi-anʿāmin

with cattle

وَبَنِينَ

wabanīna

and children

وَجَنَّـٰتٍۢ

wajannātin

And gardens

وَعُيُونٍ

waʿuyūnin

and springs

إِنِّىٓ

innī

Indeed, I

أَخَافُ

akhāfu

[I] fear

عَلَيْكُمْ

ʿalaykum

for you

عَذَابَ

ʿadhāba

(the) punishment

يَوْمٍ

yawmin

(of) a Day

عَظِيمٍۢ

ʿaẓīmin

Great

قَالُوا۟

qālū

They said

سَوَآءٌ

sawāon

(It is) same

عَلَيْنَآ

ʿalaynā

to us

أَوَعَظْتَ

awaʿaẓta

whether you advise

أَمْ

am

or

لَمْ

lam

not

تَكُن

takun

you are

مِّنَ

mina

of

ٱلْوَٰعِظِينَ

l-wāʿiẓīna

the advisors

إِنْ

in

Not

هَـٰذَآ

hādhā

(is) this

إِلَّا

illā

but

خُلُقُ

khuluqu

(the) custom

ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

l-awalīna

(of) the former (people)

وَمَا

wamā

And not

نَحْنُ

naḥnu

we

بِمُعَذَّبِينَ

bimuʿadhabīna

(are) the ones to be punished

فَكَذَّبُوهُ

fakadhabūhu

So they denied him

فَأَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ ۗ

fa-ahlaknāhum

then We destroyed them

إِنَّ

inna

Indeed

فِى

fī

in

ذَٰلِكَ

dhālika

that

لَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖ

laāyatan

surely, is a sign

وَمَا

wamā

but not

كَانَ

kāna

are

أَكْثَرُهُم

aktharuhum

most of them

مُّؤْمِنِينَ

mu'minīna

believers

وَإِنَّ

wa-inna

And indeed

رَبَّكَ

rabbaka

your Lord

لَهُوَ

lahuwa

surely, He

ٱلْعَزِيزُ

l-ʿazīzu

(is) the All-Mighty

ٱلرَّحِيمُ

l-raḥīmu

the Most Merciful

كَذَّبَتْ

kadhabat

Denied

ثَمُودُ

thamūdu

Thamud

ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

l-mur'salīna

the Messengers

إِذْ

idh

When

قَالَ

qāla

said

لَهُمْ

lahum

to them

أَخُوهُمْ

akhūhum

their brother

صَـٰلِحٌ

ṣāliḥun

Salih

أَلَا

alā

Will not

تَتَّقُونَ

tattaqūna

you fear (Allah)

إِنِّى

innī

Indeed, I am

لَكُمْ

lakum

to you

رَسُولٌ

rasūlun

a Messenger

أَمِينٌۭ

amīnun

trustworthy

فَٱتَّقُوا۟

fa-ittaqū

So fear

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

Allah

وَأَطِيعُونِ

wa-aṭīʿūni

and obey me

وَمَآ

wamā

And not

أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ

asalukum

I ask you

عَلَيْهِ

ʿalayhi

for it

مِنْ

min

any

أَجْرٍ ۖ

ajrin

payment

إِنْ

in

Not

أَجْرِىَ

ajriya

(is) my payment

إِلَّا

illā

except

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

from

رَبِّ

rabbi

(the) Lord

ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

l-ʿālamīna

(of) the worlds

أَتُتْرَكُونَ

atut'rakūna

Will you be left

فِى

fī

in

مَا

mā

what

هَـٰهُنَآ

hāhunā

(is) here

ءَامِنِينَ

āminīna

secure

فِى

fī

In

جَنَّـٰتٍۢ

jannātin

gardens

وَعُيُونٍۢ

waʿuyūnin

and springs

وَزُرُوعٍۢ

wazurūʿin

And cornfields

وَنَخْلٍۢ

wanakhlin

and date-palms

طَلْعُهَا

ṭalʿuhā

its spadix

هَضِيمٌۭ

haḍīmun

soft

وَتَنْحِتُونَ

watanḥitūna

And you carve

مِنَ

mina

of

ٱلْجِبَالِ

l-jibāli

the mountains

بُيُوتًۭا

buyūtan

houses

فَـٰرِهِينَ

fārihīna

skillfully

فَٱتَّقُوا۟

fa-ittaqū

So fear

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

Allah

وَأَطِيعُونِ

wa-aṭīʿūni

and obey me
