ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ۩ ﴿٢٦﴾
Mot à mot
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
لَآ
lā
(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَ
ilāha
god
إِلَّا
illā
but
هُوَ
huwa
He
رَبُّ
rabbu
(the) Lord
ٱلْعَرْشِ
l-ʿarshi
(of) the Throne
ٱلْعَظِيمِ ۩
l-ʿaẓīmi
the Great
۞ قَالَ سَنَنظُرُ أَصَدَقْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَ ﴿٢٧﴾
Mot à mot
۞ قَالَ
qāla
He said
سَنَنظُرُ
sananẓuru
We will see
أَصَدَقْتَ
aṣadaqta
whether you speak (the) truth
أَمْ
am
or
كُنتَ
kunta
you are
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَ
l-kādhibīna
the liars
ٱذْهَب بِّكِتَـٰبِى هَـٰذَا فَأَلْقِهْ إِلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا يَرْجِعُونَ ﴿٢٨﴾
Mot à mot
ٱذْهَب
idh'hab
Go
بِّكِتَـٰبِى
bikitābī
with my letter
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
this
فَأَلْقِهْ
fa-alqih
and deliver it
إِلَيْهِمْ
ilayhim
to them
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
تَوَلَّ
tawalla
turn away
عَنْهُمْ
ʿanhum
from them
فَٱنظُرْ
fa-unẓur
and see
مَاذَا
mādhā
what
يَرْجِعُونَ
yarjiʿūna
they return
قَالَتْ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمَلَؤُاْ إِنِّىٓ أُلْقِىَ إِلَىَّ كِتَـٰبٌ كَرِيمٌ ﴿٢٩﴾

قَالَتْ
qālat
She said
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O
ٱلْمَلَؤُا۟
l-mala-u
chiefs
إِنِّىٓ
innī
Indeed [I]
أُلْقِىَ
ul'qiya
is delivered
إِلَىَّ
ilayya
to me
كِتَـٰبٌۭ
kitābun
a letter
كَرِيمٌ
karīmun
noble
إِنَّهُۥ مِن سُلَيْمَـٰنَ وَإِنَّهُۥ بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ﴿٣٠﴾

إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, it
مِن
min
(is) from
سُلَيْمَـٰنَ
sulaymāna
Sulaiman
وَإِنَّهُۥ
wa-innahu
and indeed it (is)
بِسْمِ
bis'mi
In the name
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious
ٱلرَّحِيمِ
l-raḥīmi
the Most Merciful
أَلَّا تَعْلُواْ عَلَىَّ وَأْتُونِى مُسْلِمِينَ ﴿٣١﴾
Mot à mot
أَلَّا
allā
That not
تَعْلُوا۟
taʿlū
exalt yourselves
عَلَىَّ
ʿalayya
against me
وَأْتُونِى
watūnī
but come to me
مُسْلِمِينَ
mus'limīna
(in) submission
قَالَتْ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمَلَؤُاْ أَفْتُونِى فِىٓ أَمْرِى مَا كُنتُ قَاطِعَةً أَمْرًا حَتَّىٰ تَشْهَدُونِ ﴿٣٢﴾

قَالَتْ
qālat
She said
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O
ٱلْمَلَؤُا۟
l-mala-u
chiefs
أَفْتُونِى
aftūnī
Advise me
فِىٓ
fī
in
أَمْرِى
amrī
my affair
مَا
mā
Not
كُنتُ
kuntu
I would be
قَاطِعَةً
qāṭiʿatan
the one to decide
أَمْرًا
amran
any matter
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattā
until
تَشْهَدُونِ
tashhadūni
you are present with me
قَالُواْ نَحْنُ أُوْلُواْ قُوَّةٍ وَأُوْلُواْ بَأْسٍ شَدِيدٍ وَٱلْأَمْرُ إِلَيْكِ فَٱنظُرِى مَاذَا تَأْمُرِينَ ﴿٣٣﴾

قَالُوا۟
qālū
They said
نَحْنُ
naḥnu
We
أُو۟لُوا۟
ulū
(are) possessors
قُوَّةٍۢ
quwwatin
(of) strength
وَأُو۟لُوا۟
wa-ulū
and possessors
بَأْسٍۢ
basin
(of) might
شَدِيدٍۢ
shadīdin
great
وَٱلْأَمْرُ
wal-amru
and the command
إِلَيْكِ
ilayki
(is) up to you
فَٱنظُرِى
fa-unẓurī
so look
مَاذَا
mādhā
what
تَأْمُرِينَ
tamurīna
you will command
قَالَتْ إِنَّ ٱلْمُلُوكَ إِذَا دَخَلُواْ قَرْيَةً أَفْسَدُوهَا وَجَعَلُوٓاْ أَعِزَّةَ أَهْلِهَآ أَذِلَّةًۖ وَكَذَٲلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ ﴿٣٤﴾

قَالَتْ
qālat
She said
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلْمُلُوكَ
l-mulūka
the kings
إِذَا
idhā
when
دَخَلُوا۟
dakhalū
they enter
قَرْيَةً
qaryatan
a town
أَفْسَدُوهَا
afsadūhā
they ruin it
وَجَعَلُوٓا۟
wajaʿalū
and make
أَعِزَّةَ
aʿizzata
(the) most honorable
أَهْلِهَآ
ahlihā
(of) its people
أَذِلَّةًۭ ۖ
adhillatan
(the) lowest
وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhālika
And thus
يَفْعَلُونَ
yafʿalūna
they do
وَإِنِّى مُرْسِلَةٌ إِلَيْهِم بِهَدِيَّةٍ فَنَاظِرَةُۢ بِمَ يَرْجِعُ ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ ﴿٣٥﴾
Mot à mot
وَإِنِّى
wa-innī
But indeed, I am
مُرْسِلَةٌ
mur'silatun
going to send
إِلَيْهِم
ilayhim
to them
بِهَدِيَّةٍۢ
bihadiyyatin
a gift
فَنَاظِرَةٌۢ
fanāẓiratun
and see
بِمَ
bima
with what
يَرْجِعُ
yarjiʿu
return
ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
l-mur'salūna
the messengers
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ سُلَيْمَـٰنَ قَالَ أَتُمِدُّونَنِ بِمَالٍ فَمَآ ءَاتَـٰنِۦَ ٱللَّهُ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّآ ءَاتَـٰكُم بَلْ أَنتُم بِهَدِيَّتِكُمْ تَفْرَحُونَ ﴿٣٦﴾
Mot à mot
فَلَمَّا
falammā
So when
جَآءَ
jāa
came
سُلَيْمَـٰنَ
sulaymāna
(to) Sulaiman
قَالَ
qāla
he said
أَتُمِدُّونَنِ
atumiddūnani
Will you provide me
بِمَالٍۢ
bimālin
with wealth
فَمَآ
famā
But what
ءَاتَىٰنِۦَ
ātāniya
Allah has given me
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah has given me
خَيْرٌۭ
khayrun
(is) better
مِّمَّآ
mimmā
than what
ءَاتَىٰكُم
ātākum
He has given you
بَلْ
bal
Nay
أَنتُم
antum
you
بِهَدِيَّتِكُمْ
bihadiyyatikum
in your gift
تَفْرَحُونَ
tafraḥūna
rejoice
ٱرْجِعْ إِلَيْهِمْ فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّهُم بِجُنُودٍ لَّا قِبَلَ لَهُم بِهَا وَلَنُخْرِجَنَّهُم مِّنْهَآ أَذِلَّةً وَهُمْ صَـٰغِرُونَ ﴿٣٧﴾
Mot à mot
ٱرْجِعْ
ir'jiʿ
Return
إِلَيْهِمْ
ilayhim
to them
فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّهُم
falanatiyannahum
surely, we will come to them
بِجُنُودٍۢ
bijunūdin
with hosts
لَّا
lā
not
قِبَلَ
qibala
(is) resistance
لَهُم
lahum
for them
بِهَا
bihā
of it
وَلَنُخْرِجَنَّهُم
walanukh'rijannahum
and surely, we will drive them out
مِّنْهَآ
min'hā
from there
أَذِلَّةًۭ
adhillatan
(in) humiliation
وَهُمْ
wahum
and they
صَـٰغِرُونَ
ṣāghirūna
(will be) abased
قَالَ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمَلَؤُاْ أَيُّكُمْ يَأْتِينِى بِعَرْشِهَا قَبْلَ أَن يَأْتُونِى مُسْلِمِينَ ﴿٣٨﴾

قَالَ
qāla
He said
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O
ٱلْمَلَؤُا۟
l-mala-u
chiefs
أَيُّكُمْ
ayyukum
Which of you
يَأْتِينِى
yatīnī
will bring me
بِعَرْشِهَا
biʿarshihā
her throne
قَبْلَ
qabla
before
أَن
an
that
يَأْتُونِى
yatūnī
they come to me
مُسْلِمِينَ
mus'limīna
(in) submission
قَالَ عِفْرِيتٌ مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ أَنَا۟ ءَاتِيكَ بِهِۦ قَبْلَ أَن تَقُومَ مِن مَّقَامِكَۖ وَإِنِّى عَلَيْهِ لَقَوِىٌّ أَمِينٌ ﴿٣٩﴾

قَالَ
qāla
Said
عِفْرِيتٌۭ
ʿif'rītun
a strong one
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلْجِنِّ
l-jini
the jinn
أَنَا۠
anā
I
ءَاتِيكَ
ātīka
will bring it to you
بِهِۦ
bihi
will bring it to you
قَبْلَ
qabla
before
أَن
an
[that]
تَقُومَ
taqūma
you rise
مِن
min
from
مَّقَامِكَ ۖ
maqāmika
your place
وَإِنِّى
wa-innī
And indeed, I am
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhi
for it
لَقَوِىٌّ
laqawiyyun
surely, strong
أَمِينٌۭ
amīnun
trustworthy
قَالَ ٱلَّذِى عِندَهُۥ عِلْمٌ مِّنَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ أَنَا۟ ءَاتِيكَ بِهِۦ قَبْلَ أَن يَرْتَدَّ إِلَيْكَ طَرْفُكَۚ فَلَمَّا رَءَاهُ مُسْتَقِرًّا عِندَهُۥ قَالَ هَـٰذَا مِن فَضْلِ رَبِّى لِيَبْلُوَنِىٓ ءَأَشْكُرُ أَمْ أَكْفُرُۖ وَمَن شَكَرَ فَإِنَّمَا يَشْكُرُ لِنَفْسِهِۦۖ وَمَن كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ رَبِّى غَنِىٌّ كَرِيمٌ ﴿٤٠﴾

قَالَ

Said
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
one who
عِندَهُۥ
ʿindahu
with him
عِلْمٌۭ
ʿil'mun
(was) knowledge
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi
the Scripture
أَنَا۠
anā
I
ءَاتِيكَ
ātīka
will bring it to you
بِهِۦ
bihi
will bring it to you
قَبْلَ
qabla
before
أَن
an
[that]
يَرْتَدَّ
yartadda
returns
إِلَيْكَ
ilayka
to you
طَرْفُكَ ۚ
ṭarfuka
your glance
فَلَمَّا
falammā
Then when
رَءَاهُ
raāhu
he saw it
مُسْتَقِرًّا
mus'taqirran
placed
عِندَهُۥ
ʿindahu
before him
قَالَ
qāla
he said
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
This
مِن
min
(is) from
فَضْلِ
faḍli
(the) Favor
رَبِّى
rabbī
(of) my Lord
لِيَبْلُوَنِىٓ
liyabluwanī
to test me
ءَأَشْكُرُ
a-ashkuru
whether I am grateful
أَمْ
am
or
أَكْفُرُ ۖ
akfuru
I am ungrateful
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
شَكَرَ
shakara
(is) grateful
فَإِنَّمَا
fa-innamā
then only
يَشْكُرُ
yashkuru
he is grateful
لِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ
linafsihi
for his own soul
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
كَفَرَ
kafara
(is) ungrateful
فَإِنَّ
fa-inna
then indeed
رَبِّى
rabbī
my Lord
غَنِىٌّۭ
ghaniyyun
(is) Self-sufficient
كَرِيمٌۭ
karīmun
Noble
قَالَ نَكِّرُواْ لَهَا عَرْشَهَا نَنظُرْ أَتَهْتَدِىٓ أَمْ تَكُونُ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَهْتَدُونَ ﴿٤١﴾

He said
نَكِّرُوا۟
nakkirū
Disguise
لَهَا
lahā
for her
عَرْشَهَا
ʿarshahā
her throne
نَنظُرْ
nanẓur
we will see
أَتَهْتَدِىٓ
atahtadī
whether she will be guided
أَمْ
am
or
تَكُونُ
takūnu
will be
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
لَا
lā
are not guided
يَهْتَدُونَ
yahtadūna
are not guided
فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْ قِيلَ أَهَـٰكَذَا عَرْشُكِۖ قَالَتْ كَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَۚ وَأُوتِينَا ٱلْعِلْمَ مِن قَبْلِهَا وَكُنَّا مُسْلِمِينَ ﴿٤٢﴾

فَلَمَّا
falammā
So when
جَآءَتْ
jāat
she came
قِيلَ
qīla
it was said
أَهَـٰكَذَا
ahākadhā
Is like this
عَرْشُكِ ۖ
ʿarshuki
your throne
قَالَتْ
qālat
She said
كَأَنَّهُۥ
ka-annahu
It is like
هُوَ ۚ
huwa
it
وَأُوتِينَا
waūtīnā
And we were given
ٱلْعِلْمَ
l-ʿil'ma
the knowledge
مِن
min
before her
قَبْلِهَا
qablihā
before her
وَكُنَّا
wakunnā
and we have been
مُسْلِمِينَ
mus'limīna
Muslims
وَصَدَّهَا مَا كَانَت تَّعْبُدُ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِۖ إِنَّهَا كَانَتْ مِن قَوْمٍ كَـٰفِرِينَ ﴿٤٣﴾

وَصَدَّهَا
waṣaddahā
And has averted her
مَا
mā
what
كَانَت
kānat
she used (to)
تَّعْبُدُ
taʿbudu
worship
مِن
min
besides
دُونِ
dūni
besides
ٱللَّهِ ۖ
l-lahi
Allah
إِنَّهَا
innahā
Indeed, she
كَانَتْ
kānat
was
مِن
min
from
قَوْمٍۢ
qawmin
a people
كَـٰفِرِينَ
kāfirīna
who disbelieve
قِيلَ لَهَا ٱدْخُلِى ٱلصَّرْحَۖ فَلَمَّا رَأَتْهُ حَسِبَتْهُ لُجَّةً وَكَشَفَتْ عَن سَاقَيْهَاۚ قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ صَرْحٌ مُّمَرَّدٌ مِّن قَوَارِيرَۗ قَالَتْ رَبِّ إِنِّى ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِى وَأَسْلَمْتُ مَعَ سُلَيْمَـٰنَ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ﴿٤٤﴾

qīla
It was said
لَهَا
lahā
to her
ٱدْخُلِى
ud'khulī
Enter
ٱلصَّرْحَ ۖ
l-ṣarḥa
the palace
فَلَمَّا
falammā
Then when
رَأَتْهُ
ra-athu
she saw it
حَسِبَتْهُ
ḥasibathu
she thought it
لُجَّةًۭ
lujjatan
(was) a pool
وَكَشَفَتْ
wakashafat
and she uncovered
عَن
ʿan
[on]
سَاقَيْهَا ۚ
sāqayhā
her shins
قَالَ
qāla
He said
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, it
صَرْحٌۭ
ṣarḥun
(is) a palace
مُّمَرَّدٌۭ
mumarradun
made smooth
مِّن
min
of
قَوَارِيرَ ۗ
qawārīra
glass
قَالَتْ
qālat
She said
رَبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
إِنِّى
innī
indeed, I
ظَلَمْتُ
ẓalamtu
[I] have wronged
نَفْسِى
nafsī
myself
وَأَسْلَمْتُ
wa-aslamtu
and I submit
مَعَ
maʿa
with
سُلَيْمَـٰنَ
sulaymāna
Sulaiman
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
to Allah
رَبِّ
rabbi
(the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
l-ʿālamīna
(of) the worlds
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَـٰلِحًا أَنِ ٱعْبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ فَإِذَا هُمْ فَرِيقَانِ يَخْتَصِمُونَ ﴿٤٥﴾
Mot à mot
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
أَرْسَلْنَآ
arsalnā
We sent
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
ثَمُودَ
thamūda
Thamud
أَخَاهُمْ
akhāhum
their brother
صَـٰلِحًا
ṣāliḥan
Salih
أَنِ
ani
that
ٱعْبُدُوا۟
uʿ'budū
Worship
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
فَإِذَا
fa-idhā
Then behold
هُمْ
hum
They
فَرِيقَانِ
farīqāni
(became) two parties
يَخْتَصِمُونَ
yakhtaṣimūna
quarreling
قَالَ يَـٰقَوْمِ لِمَ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ قَبْلَ ٱلْحَسَنَةِۖ لَوْلَا تَسْتَغْفِرُونَ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ ﴿٤٦﴾
Mot à mot
قَالَ
qāla
He said
يَـٰقَوْمِ
yāqawmi
O my people
لِمَ
lima
Why
تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
tastaʿjilūna
(do) you seek to hasten
بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ
bil-sayi-ati
the evil
قَبْلَ
qabla
before
ٱلْحَسَنَةِ ۖ
l-ḥasanati
the good
لَوْلَا
lawlā
Why not
تَسْتَغْفِرُونَ
tastaghfirūna
you ask forgiveness
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
(of) Allah
لَعَلَّكُمْ
laʿallakum
so that you may
تُرْحَمُونَ
tur'ḥamūna
receive mercy
قَالُواْ ٱطَّيَّرْنَا بِكَ وَبِمَن مَّعَكَۚ قَالَ طَـٰٓئِرُكُمْ عِندَ ٱللَّهِۖ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ تُفْتَنُونَ ﴿٤٧﴾

قَالُوا۟
qālū
They said
ٱطَّيَّرْنَا
iṭṭayyarnā
We consider you a bad omen
بِكَ
bika
We consider you a bad omen
وَبِمَن
wabiman
and those
مَّعَكَ ۚ
maʿaka
with you
قَالَ
qāla
He said
طَـٰٓئِرُكُمْ
ṭāirukum
Your bad omen
عِندَ
ʿinda
(is) with
ٱللَّهِ ۖ
l-lahi
Allah
بَلْ
bal
Nay
أَنتُمْ
antum
you
قَوْمٌۭ
qawmun
(are) a people
تُفْتَنُونَ
tuf'tanūna
being tested
وَكَانَ فِى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ تِسْعَةُ رَهْطٍ يُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ ﴿٤٨﴾
Mot à mot
وَكَانَ
wakāna
And were
فِى
fī
in
ٱلْمَدِينَةِ
l-madīnati
the city
تِسْعَةُ
tis'ʿatu
nine
رَهْطٍۢ
rahṭin
family heads
يُفْسِدُونَ
yuf'sidūna
they were spreading corruption
فِى
fī
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the land
وَلَا
walā
and not
يُصْلِحُونَ
yuṣ'liḥūna
reforming
قَالُواْ تَقَاسَمُواْ بِٱللَّهِ لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُۥ وَأَهْلَهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَقُولَنَّ لِوَلِيِّهِۦ مَا شَهِدْنَا مَهْلِكَ أَهْلِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَصَـٰدِقُونَ ﴿٤٩﴾
Mot à mot
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They said
تَقَاسَمُوا۟
taqāsamū
Swear to each other
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
by Allah
لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُۥ
lanubayyitannahu
surely, we will attack him by night
وَأَهْلَهُۥ
wa-ahlahu
and his family
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
لَنَقُولَنَّ
lanaqūlanna
we will surely say
لِوَلِيِّهِۦ
liwaliyyihi
to his heir
مَا
mā
Not
شَهِدْنَا
shahid'nā
we witnessed
مَهْلِكَ
mahlika
(the) destruction
أَهْلِهِۦ
ahlihi
(of) his family
وَإِنَّا
wa-innā
and indeed, we
لَصَـٰدِقُونَ
laṣādiqūna
(are) surely truthful
وَمَكَرُواْ مَكْرًا وَمَكَرْنَا مَكْرًا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ﴿٥٠﴾

وَمَكَرُوا۟
wamakarū
So they plotted
مَكْرًۭا
makran
a plot
وَمَكَرْنَا
wamakarnā
and We planned
مَكْرًۭا
makran
a plan
وَهُمْ
wahum
while they
لَا
lā
(did) not
يَشْعُرُونَ
yashʿurūna
