As-Saffat

وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ

wanajjaynāhu

And We saved him

وَأَهْلَهُۥ

wa-ahlahu

and his family

مِنَ

mina

from

ٱلْكَرْبِ

l-karbi

the distress

ٱلْعَظِيمِ

l-ʿaẓīmi

the great

وَجَعَلْنَا

wajaʿalnā

And We made

ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ

dhurriyyatahu

his offspring

هُمُ

humu

[they]

ٱلْبَاقِينَ

l-bāqīna

the survivors

وَتَرَكْنَا

wataraknā

And We left

عَلَيْهِ

ʿalayhi

for him

فِى

fī

among

ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ

l-ākhirīna

the later generations

سَلَـٰمٌ

salāmun

Peace be

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

upon

نُوحٍۢ

nūḥin

Nuh

فِى

fī

among

ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

l-ʿālamīna

the worlds

إِنَّا

innā

Indeed, We

كَذَٰلِكَ

kadhālika

thus

نَجْزِى

najzī

[We] reward

ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ

l-muḥ'sinīna

the good-doers

إِنَّهُۥ

innahu

Indeed, he

مِنْ

min

(was) of

عِبَادِنَا

ʿibādinā

Our slaves

ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

l-mu'minīna

believing

ثُمَّ

thumma

Then

أَغْرَقْنَا

aghraqnā

We drowned

ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ

l-ākharīna

the others

۞ وَإِنَّ

wa-inna

And indeed

مِن

min

among

شِيعَتِهِۦ

shīʿatihi

his kind

لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ

la-ib'rāhīma

(was) surely Ibrahim

إِذْ

idh

When

جَآءَ

jāa

he came

رَبَّهُۥ

rabbahu

(to) his Lord

بِقَلْبٍۢ

biqalbin

with a heart

سَلِيمٍ

salīmin

sound

إِذْ

idh

When

قَالَ

qāla

he said

لِأَبِيهِ

li-abīhi

to his father

وَقَوْمِهِۦ

waqawmihi

and his people

مَاذَا

mādhā

What is it

تَعْبُدُونَ

taʿbudūna

you worship

أَئِفْكًا

a-if'kan

Is it falsehood

ءَالِهَةًۭ

ālihatan

gods

دُونَ

dūna

other than

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

Allah

تُرِيدُونَ

turīdūna

(that) you desire

فَمَا

famā

Then what

ظَنُّكُم

ẓannukum

(do) you think

بِرَبِّ

birabbi

about (the) Lord

ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

l-ʿālamīna

(of) the worlds

فَنَظَرَ

fanaẓara

Then he glanced

نَظْرَةًۭ

naẓratan

a glance

فِى

fī

at

ٱلنُّجُومِ

l-nujūmi

the stars

فَقَالَ

faqāla

And he said

إِنِّى

innī

Indeed, I am

سَقِيمٌۭ

saqīmun

sick

فَتَوَلَّوْا۟

fatawallaw

So they turned away

عَنْهُ

ʿanhu

from him

مُدْبِرِينَ

mud'birīna

departing

فَرَاغَ

farāgha

Then he turned

إِلَىٰٓ

ilā

to

ءَالِهَتِهِمْ

ālihatihim

their gods

فَقَالَ

faqāla

and said

أَلَا

alā

Do not

تَأْكُلُونَ

takulūna

you eat

مَا

mā

What (is)

لَكُمْ

lakum

for you

لَا

lā

not

تَنطِقُونَ

tanṭiqūna

you speak

فَرَاغَ

farāgha

Then he turned

عَلَيْهِمْ

ʿalayhim

upon them

ضَرْبًۢا

ḍarban

striking

بِٱلْيَمِينِ

bil-yamīni

with the right hand

فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟

fa-aqbalū

Then they advanced

إِلَيْهِ

ilayhi

towards him

يَزِفُّونَ

yaziffūna

hastening

قَالَ

qāla

He said

أَتَعْبُدُونَ

ataʿbudūna

Do you worship

مَا

mā

what

تَنْحِتُونَ

tanḥitūna

you carve

وَٱللَّهُ

wal-lahu

While Allah

خَلَقَكُمْ

khalaqakum

created you

وَمَا

wamā

and what

تَعْمَلُونَ

taʿmalūna

you make

قَالُوا۟

qālū

They said

ٱبْنُوا۟

ib'nū

Build

لَهُۥ

lahu

for him

بُنْيَـٰنًۭا

bun'yānan

a structure

فَأَلْقُوهُ

fa-alqūhu

and throw him

فِى

fī

into

ٱلْجَحِيمِ

l-jaḥīmi

the blazing Fire

فَأَرَادُوا۟

fa-arādū

And they intended

بِهِۦ

bihi

for him

كَيْدًۭا

kaydan

a plot

فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُ

fajaʿalnāhumu

but We made them

ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ

l-asfalīna

the lowest

وَقَالَ

waqāla

And he said

إِنِّى

innī

Indeed, I am

ذَاهِبٌ

dhāhibun

going

إِلَىٰ

ilā

to

رَبِّى

rabbī

my Lord

سَيَهْدِينِ

sayahdīni

He will guide me

رَبِّ

rabbi

My Lord

هَبْ

hab

grant

لِى

lī

me

مِنَ

mina

of

ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ

l-ṣāliḥīna

the righteous
