Al-Hijr

وَلَقَدْ

walaqad

And verily

خَلَقْنَا

khalaqnā

We created

ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ

l-insāna

humankind

مِن

min

(out) of

صَلْصَـٰلٍۢ

ṣalṣālin

sounding clay

مِّنْ

min

from

حَمَإٍۢ

ḥama-in

black mud

مَّسْنُونٍۢ

masnūnin

altered

وَٱلْجَآنَّ

wal-jāna

And the jinn

خَلَقْنَـٰهُ

khalaqnāhu

We created it

مِن

min

before

قَبْلُ

qablu

before

مِن

min

from

نَّارِ

nāri

fire

ٱلسَّمُومِ

l-samūmi

scorching

وَإِذْ

wa-idh

And when

قَالَ

qāla

your Lord said

رَبُّكَ

rabbuka

your Lord said

لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ

lil'malāikati

to the Angels

إِنِّى

innī

Indeed, I

خَـٰلِقٌۢ

khāliqun

(will) create

بَشَرًۭا

basharan

a human being

مِّن

min

(out) of

صَلْصَـٰلٍۢ

ṣalṣālin

clay

مِّنْ

min

from

حَمَإٍۢ

ḥama-in

black mud

مَّسْنُونٍۢ

masnūnin

altered

فَإِذَا

fa-idhā

So, when

سَوَّيْتُهُۥ

sawwaytuhu

I have fashioned him

وَنَفَخْتُ

wanafakhtu

and [I] breathed

فِيهِ

fīhi

into him

مِن

min

of

رُّوحِى

rūḥī

My spirit

فَقَعُوا۟

faqaʿū

then fall down

لَهُۥ

lahu

to him

سَـٰجِدِينَ

sājidīna

prostrating

فَسَجَدَ

fasajada

So prostrated

ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ

l-malāikatu

the Angels

كُلُّهُمْ

kulluhum

all of them

أَجْمَعُونَ

ajmaʿūna

together

إِلَّآ

illā

Except

إِبْلِيسَ

ib'līsa

Iblis

أَبَىٰٓ

abā

He refused

أَن

an

to

يَكُونَ

yakūna

be

مَعَ

maʿa

with

ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ

l-sājidīna

those who prostrated

قَالَ

qāla

He said

يَـٰٓإِبْلِيسُ

yāib'līsu

O Iblis

مَا

mā

What

لَكَ

laka

(is) for you

أَلَّا

allā

that not

تَكُونَ

takūna

you are

مَعَ

maʿa

with

ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ

l-sājidīna

those who prostrated

قَالَ

qāla

He said

لَمْ

lam

I am not

أَكُن

akun

I am not

لِّأَسْجُدَ

li-asjuda

(one) to prostrate

لِبَشَرٍ

libasharin

to a human

خَلَقْتَهُۥ

khalaqtahu

whom You created

مِن

min

(out) of

صَلْصَـٰلٍۢ

ṣalṣālin

clay

مِّنْ

min

from

حَمَإٍۢ

ḥama-in

black mud

مَّسْنُونٍۢ

masnūnin

altered

قَالَ

qāla

He said

فَٱخْرُجْ

fa-ukh'ruj

Then get out

مِنْهَا

min'hā

of it

فَإِنَّكَ

fa-innaka

for indeed, you

رَجِيمٌۭ

rajīmun

(are) expelled

وَإِنَّ

wa-inna

And indeed

عَلَيْكَ

ʿalayka

upon you

ٱللَّعْنَةَ

l-laʿnata

(will be) the curse

إِلَىٰ

ilā

till

يَوْمِ

yawmi

(the) Day

ٱلدِّينِ

l-dīni

(of) [the] Judgment

قَالَ

qāla

He said

رَبِّ

rabbi

O my Lord

فَأَنظِرْنِىٓ

fa-anẓir'nī

Then give me respite

إِلَىٰ

ilā

till

يَوْمِ

yawmi

(the) Day

يُبْعَثُونَ

yub'ʿathūna

they are raised

قَالَ

qāla

He said

فَإِنَّكَ

fa-innaka

Then indeed you

مِنَ

mina

(are) of

ٱلْمُنظَرِينَ

l-munẓarīna

the ones given respite

إِلَىٰ

ilā

Till

يَوْمِ

yawmi

the Day

ٱلْوَقْتِ

l-waqti

(of) the time

ٱلْمَعْلُومِ

l-maʿlūmi

well-known

قَالَ

qāla

He said

رَبِّ

rabbi

My Lord

بِمَآ

bimā

Because

أَغْوَيْتَنِى

aghwaytanī

You misled me

لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ

la-uzayyinanna

surely, I will make (evil) fair-seeming

لَهُمْ

lahum

to them

فِى

fī

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

l-arḍi

the earth

وَلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ

wala-ugh'wiyannahum

and I will mislead them

أَجْمَعِينَ

ajmaʿīna

all

إِلَّا

illā

Except

عِبَادَكَ

ʿibādaka

Your slaves

مِنْهُمُ

min'humu

among them

ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ

l-mukh'laṣīna

the ones who are sincere

قَالَ

qāla

He said

هَـٰذَا

hādhā

This

صِرَٰطٌ

ṣirāṭun

(is) the way

عَلَىَّ

ʿalayya

to Me

مُسْتَقِيمٌ

mus'taqīmun

straight

إِنَّ

inna

Indeed

عِبَادِى

ʿibādī

My slaves

لَيْسَ

laysa

not

لَكَ

laka

you have

عَلَيْهِمْ

ʿalayhim

over them

سُلْطَـٰنٌ

sul'ṭānun

any authority

إِلَّا

illā

except

مَنِ

mani

those who

ٱتَّبَعَكَ

ittabaʿaka

follow you

مِنَ

mina

of

ٱلْغَاوِينَ

l-ghāwīna

the ones who go astray

وَإِنَّ

wa-inna

And indeed

جَهَنَّمَ

jahannama

Hell

لَمَوْعِدُهُمْ

lamawʿiduhum

(is) surely the promised place for them

أَجْمَعِينَ

ajmaʿīna

all

لَهَا

lahā

For it

سَبْعَةُ

sabʿatu

(are) seven

أَبْوَٰبٍۢ

abwābin

gates

لِّكُلِّ

likulli

for each

بَابٍۢ

bābin

gate

مِّنْهُمْ

min'hum

among them

جُزْءٌۭ

juz'on

(is) a portion

مَّقْسُومٌ

maqsūmun

assigned

إِنَّ

inna

Indeed

ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

l-mutaqīna

the righteous

فِى

fī

(will be) in

جَنَّـٰتٍۢ

jannātin

Gardens

وَعُيُونٍ

waʿuyūnin

and water springs

ٱدْخُلُوهَا

ud'khulūhā

Enter it

بِسَلَـٰمٍ

bisalāmin

in peace

ءَامِنِينَ

āminīna

secure

وَنَزَعْنَا

wanazaʿnā

And We (will) remove

مَا

mā

what

فِى

fī

(is) in

صُدُورِهِم

ṣudūrihim

their breasts

مِّنْ

min

of

غِلٍّ

ghillin

rancor

إِخْوَٰنًا

ikh'wānan

(they will be) brothers

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

on

سُرُرٍۢ

sururin

thrones

مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ

mutaqābilīna

facing each other

لَا

lā

Not

يَمَسُّهُمْ

yamassuhum

will touch them

فِيهَا

fīhā

therein

نَصَبٌۭ

naṣabun

fatigue

وَمَا

wamā

and not

هُم

hum

they

مِّنْهَا

min'hā

from it

بِمُخْرَجِينَ

bimukh'rajīna

will be removed

۞ نَبِّئْ

nabbi

Inform

عِبَادِىٓ

ʿibādī

My slaves

أَنِّىٓ

annī

that I

أَنَا

anā

I am

ٱلْغَفُورُ

l-ghafūru

the Oft-Forgiving

ٱلرَّحِيمُ

l-raḥīmu

the Most Merciful

وَأَنَّ

wa-anna

And that

عَذَابِى

ʿadhābī

My punishment

هُوَ

huwa

it

ٱلْعَذَابُ

l-ʿadhābu

(is) the punishment

ٱلْأَلِيمُ

l-alīmu

the most painful
