سَنُلْقِى فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ ٱلرُّعْبَ بِمَآ أَشْرَكُواْ بِٱللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يُنَزِّلْ بِهِۦ سُلْطَـٰنًاۖ وَمَأْوَٮٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُۚ وَبِئْسَ مَثْوَى ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ﴿١٥١﴾
Word-by-word
سَنُلْقِى
sanul'qī
We will cast
فِى
fī
in
قُلُوبِ
qulūbi
(the) hearts
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
(of) those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieve
ٱلرُّعْبَ
l-ruʿ'ba
[the] terror
بِمَآ
bimā
because
أَشْرَكُوا۟
ashrakū
they associated partners
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
with Allah
مَا
mā
what
لَمْ
lam
not
يُنَزِّلْ
yunazzil
He sent down
بِهِۦ
bihi
about it
سُلْطَـٰنًۭا ۖ
sul'ṭānan
any authority
وَمَأْوَىٰهُمُ
wamawāhumu
and their refuge
ٱلنَّارُ ۚ
l-nāru
(will be) the Fire
وَبِئْسَ
wabi'sa
and wretched
مَثْوَى
mathwā
(is the) abode
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīna
[of] the wrongdoers
وَلَقَدْ صَدَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَعْدَهُۥٓ إِذْ تَحُسُّونَهُم بِإِذْنِهِۦۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فَشِلْتُمْ وَتَنَـٰزَعْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَمْرِ وَعَصَيْتُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ مَآ أَرَٮٰكُم مَّا تُحِبُّونَۚ مِنكُم مَّن يُرِيدُ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَمِنكُم مَّن يُرِيدُ ٱلْأَخِرَةَۚ ثُمَّ صَرَفَكُمْ عَنْهُمْ لِيَبْتَلِيَكُمْۖ وَلَقَدْ عَفَا عَنكُمْۗ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ﴿١٥٢﴾

And certainly
صَدَقَكُمُ

fulfilled to you
ٱللَّهُ

وَعْدَهُۥٓ

His promise
إِذْ

تَحُسُّونَهُم
taḥussūnahum
you were killing them
بِإِذْنِهِۦ ۖ
bi-idh'nihi
by His permission
حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattā
until
إِذَا
idhā
when
فَشِلْتُمْ
fashil'tum
you lost courage
وَتَنَـٰزَعْتُمْ
watanāzaʿtum
and you fell into dispute
فِى
fī
concerning
ٱلْأَمْرِ
l-amri
the order
وَعَصَيْتُم
waʿaṣaytum
and you disobeyed
مِّنۢ
min
from
بَعْدِ
baʿdi
after
مَآ
mā
[what]
أَرَىٰكُم
arākum
He (had) shown you
مَّا
mā
what
تُحِبُّونَ ۚ
tuḥibbūna
you love
مِنكُم
minkum
Among you
مَّن
man
(are some) who
يُرِيدُ
yurīdu
desire
ٱلدُّنْيَا
l-dun'yā
the world
وَمِنكُم
waminkum
and among you
مَّن
man
(are some) who
يُرِيدُ
yurīdu
desire
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ ۚ
l-ākhirata
the Hereafter
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
صَرَفَكُمْ
ṣarafakum
He diverted you
عَنْهُمْ
ʿanhum
from them
لِيَبْتَلِيَكُمْ ۖ
liyabtaliyakum
so that He may test you
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And surely
عَفَا
ʿafā
He forgave
عَنكُمْ ۗ
ʿankum
you
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
ذُو
dhū
(is the) Possessor
فَضْلٍ
faḍlin
(of) Bounty
عَلَى
ʿalā
for
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
l-mu'minīna
the believers
۞ إِذْ تُصْعِدُونَ وَلَا تَلْوُۥنَ عَلَىٰٓ أَحَدٍ وَٱلرَّسُولُ يَدْعُوكُمْ فِىٓ أُخْرَٮٰكُمْ فَأَثَـٰبَكُمْ غَمَّۢا بِغَمٍّ لِّكَيْلَا تَحْزَنُواْ عَلَىٰ مَا فَاتَكُمْ وَلَا مَآ أَصَـٰبَكُمْۗ وَٱللَّهُ خَبِيرُۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ ﴿١٥٣﴾

you were running uphill
وَلَا

and not
تَلْوُۥنَ

casting a glance
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalā

أَحَدٍۢ

anyone
وَٱلرَّسُولُ
wal-rasūlu
while the Messenger
يَدْعُوكُمْ
yadʿūkum
was calling you
فِىٓ
fī
[in]
أُخْرَىٰكُمْ
ukh'rākum
(from) behind you
فَأَثَـٰبَكُمْ
fa-athābakum
So (He) repaid you
غَمًّۢا
ghamman
(with) distress
بِغَمٍّۢ
bighammin
on distress
لِّكَيْلَا
likaylā
so that not
تَحْزَنُوا۟
taḥzanū
you grieve
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
over
مَا
mā
what
فَاتَكُمْ
fātakum
escaped you
وَلَا
walā
and not
مَآ
mā
what
أَصَـٰبَكُمْ ۗ
aṣābakum
(had) befallen you
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
خَبِيرٌۢ
khabīrun
(is) All-Aware
بِمَا
bimā
of what
تَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūna
you do
ثُمَّ أَنزَلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ ٱلْغَمِّ أَمَنَةً نُّعَاسًا يَغْشَىٰ طَآئِفَةً مِّنكُمْۖ وَطَآئِفَةٌ قَدْ أَهَمَّتْهُمْ أَنفُسُهُمْ يَظُنُّونَ بِٱللَّهِ غَيْرَ ٱلْحَقِّ ظَنَّ ٱلْجَـٰهِلِيَّةِۖ يَقُولُونَ هَل لَّنَا مِنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ مِن شَىْءٍۗ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَمْرَ كُلَّهُۥ لِلَّهِۗ يُخْفُونَ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِم مَّا لَا يُبْدُونَ لَكَۖ يَقُولُونَ لَوْ كَانَ لَنَا مِنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ شَىْءٌ مَّا قُتِلْنَا هَـٰهُنَاۗ قُل لَّوْ كُنتُمْ فِى بُيُوتِكُمْ لَبَرَزَ ٱلَّذِينَ كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَتْلُ إِلَىٰ مَضَاجِعِهِمْۖ وَلِيَبْتَلِىَ ٱللَّهُ مَا فِى صُدُورِكُمْ وَلِيُمَحِّصَ مَا فِى قُلُوبِكُمْۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمُۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ ﴿١٥٤﴾

a group
مِّنكُمْ ۖ
minkum
of you
وَطَآئِفَةٌۭ
waṭāifatun
while a group
قَدْ
qad
certainly
أَهَمَّتْهُمْ
ahammathum
worried [them]
أَنفُسُهُمْ
anfusuhum
(about) themselves
يَظُنُّونَ
yaẓunnūna
thinking
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
about Allah
غَيْرَ
ghayra
other than
ٱلْحَقِّ
l-ḥaqi
the truth
ظَنَّ
ẓanna
(the) thought
ٱلْجَـٰهِلِيَّةِ ۖ
l-jāhiliyati
(of) [the] ignorance
يَقُولُونَ
yaqūlūna
saying
هَل
hal
Is (there)
لَّنَا
lanā
for us
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْأَمْرِ
l-amri
the matter
مِن
min
any
شَىْءٍۢ ۗ
shayin
thing
قُلْ
qul
Say
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلْأَمْرَ
l-amra
the matter
كُلَّهُۥ
kullahu
all (of) it
لِلَّهِ ۗ
lillahi
(is) for Allah
يُخْفُونَ
yukh'fūna
They hide
فِىٓ
fī
in
أَنفُسِهِم
anfusihim
themselves
مَّا
mā
what
لَا
lā
not
يُبْدُونَ
yub'dūna
they reveal
لَكَ ۖ
laka
to you
يَقُولُونَ
yaqūlūna
They say
لَوْ
law
If
كَانَ
kāna
was
لَنَا
lanā
for us
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْأَمْرِ
l-amri
the matter
شَىْءٌۭ
shayon
anything
مَّا
mā
not
قُتِلْنَا
qutil'nā
we would have been killed
هَـٰهُنَا ۗ
hāhunā
here
قُل
qul
Say
لَّوْ
law
If
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you were
فِى
fī
in
بُيُوتِكُمْ
buyūtikum
your houses
لَبَرَزَ
labaraza
surely (would have) come out
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
كُتِبَ
kutiba
was decreed
عَلَيْهِمُ
ʿalayhimu
upon them
ٱلْقَتْلُ
l-qatlu
[the] death
إِلَىٰ
ilā
towards
مَضَاجِعِهِمْ ۖ
maḍājiʿihim
their places of death
وَلِيَبْتَلِىَ
waliyabtaliya
And that might test
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
مَا
mā
what
فِى
fī
(is) in
صُدُورِكُمْ
ṣudūrikum
your breasts
وَلِيُمَحِّصَ
waliyumaḥḥiṣa
and that He may purge
مَا
mā
what
فِى
fī
(is) in
قُلُوبِكُمْ ۗ
qulūbikum
your hearts
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
عَلِيمٌۢ
ʿalīmun
(is) All-Aware
بِذَاتِ
bidhāti
of what
ٱلصُّدُورِ
l-ṣudūri
(is in) the breasts
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ تَوَلَّوْاْ مِنكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْتَقَى ٱلْجَمْعَانِ إِنَّمَا ٱسْتَزَلَّهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ بِبَعْضِ مَا كَسَبُواْۖ وَلَقَدْ عَفَا ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ حَلِيمٌ ﴿١٥٥﴾

يَوْمَ

the two hosts
إِنَّمَا
innamā
only
ٱسْتَزَلَّهُمُ
is'tazallahumu
made them slip
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ
l-shayṭānu
the Shaitaan
بِبَعْضِ
bibaʿḍi
for some
مَا
mā
(of) what
كَسَبُوا۟ ۖ
kasabū
they (had) earned
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And surely
عَفَا
ʿafā
forgave
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
عَنْهُمْ ۗ
ʿanhum
[on] them
إِنَّ
inna
indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
غَفُورٌ
ghafūrun
(is) Oft-Forgiving
حَلِيمٌۭ
ḥalīmun
All-Forbearing
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَكُونُواْ كَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَقَالُواْ لِإِخْوَٲنِهِمْ إِذَا ضَرَبُواْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَوْ كَانُواْ غُزًّى لَّوْ كَانُواْ عِندَنَا مَا مَاتُواْ وَمَا قُتِلُواْ لِيَجْعَلَ ٱللَّهُ ذَٲلِكَ حَسْرَةً فِى قُلُوبِهِمْۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ ﴿١٥٦﴾

and they said
لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ
li-ikh'wānihim
about their brothers
إِذَا
idhā
when
ضَرَبُوا۟
ḍarabū
they traveled
فِى
fī
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
أَوْ
aw
or
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they were
غُزًّۭى
ghuzzan
fighting
لَّوْ
law
If
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they had been
عِندَنَا
ʿindanā
with us
مَا
mā
not
مَاتُوا۟
mātū
they (would have) died
وَمَا
wamā
and not
قُتِلُوا۟
qutilū
they (would have) been killed
لِيَجْعَلَ
liyajʿala
So makes
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
حَسْرَةًۭ
ḥasratan
a regret
فِى
fī
in
قُلُوبِهِمْ ۗ
qulūbihim
their hearts
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
يُحْىِۦ
yuḥ'yī
gives life
وَيُمِيتُ ۗ
wayumītu
and causes death
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
and Allah
بِمَا
bimā
of what
تَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūna
you do
بَصِيرٌۭ
baṣīrun
(is) All-Seer
وَلَئِن قُتِلْتُمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أَوْ مُتُّمْ لَمَغْفِرَةٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرَحْمَةٌ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ ﴿١٥٧﴾

وَرَحْمَةٌ
waraḥmatun
and Mercy
خَيْرٌۭ
khayrun
(are) better
مِّمَّا
mimmā
than what
يَجْمَعُونَ
yajmaʿūna
they accumulate
وَلَئِن مُّتُّمْ أَوْ قُتِلْتُمْ لَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ تُحْشَرُونَ ﴿١٥٨﴾

And if
مُّتُّمْ
muttum
you die
أَوْ

قُتِلْتُمْ

are killed
لَإِلَى
la-ilā
surely to
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi

tuḥ'sharūna
you will be gathered
فَبِمَا رَحْمَةٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ لِنتَ لَهُمْۖ وَلَوْ كُنتَ فَظًّا غَلِيظَ ٱلْقَلْبِ لَٱنفَضُّواْ مِنْ حَوْلِكَۖ فَٱعْفُ عَنْهُمْ وَٱسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ وَشَاوِرْهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَمْرِۖ فَإِذَا عَزَمْتَ فَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُتَوَكِّلِينَ ﴿١٥٩﴾

فَبِمَا

So because
رَحْمَةٍۢ
raḥmatin
(of) Mercy
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
لِنتَ
linta
you dealt gently
لَهُمْ ۖ
lahum
with them
وَلَوْ
walaw
And if
كُنتَ
kunta
you had been
فَظًّا
faẓẓan
rude
غَلِيظَ
ghalīẓa
(and) harsh
ٱلْقَلْبِ
l-qalbi
(at) [the] heart
لَٱنفَضُّوا۟
la-infaḍḍū
surely they (would have) dispersed
مِنْ
min
from
حَوْلِكَ ۖ
ḥawlika
around you
فَٱعْفُ
fa-uʿ'fu
Then pardon
عَنْهُمْ
ʿanhum
[from] them
وَٱسْتَغْفِرْ
wa-is'taghfir
and ask forgiveness
لَهُمْ
lahum
for them
وَشَاوِرْهُمْ
washāwir'hum
and consult them
فِى
fī
in
ٱلْأَمْرِ ۖ
l-amri
the matter
فَإِذَا
fa-idhā
Then when
عَزَمْتَ
ʿazamta
you have decided
فَتَوَكَّلْ
fatawakkal
then put trust
عَلَى
ʿalā
on
ٱللَّهِ ۚ
l-lahi
Allah
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
يُحِبُّ
yuḥibbu
loves
ٱلْمُتَوَكِّلِينَ
l-mutawakilīna
the ones who put trust (in Him)
إِن يَنصُرْكُمُ ٱللَّهُ فَلَا غَالِبَ لَكُمْۖ وَإِن يَخْذُلْكُمْ فَمَن ذَا ٱلَّذِى يَنصُرُكُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِهِۦۗ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿١٦٠﴾

لَكُمْ ۖ

يَخْذُلْكُمْ
yakhdhul'kum
He forsakes you
فَمَن
faman
then who
ذَا
dhā
(is)
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
the one who
يَنصُرُكُم
yanṣurukum
can help you
مِّنۢ
min
from
بَعْدِهِۦ ۗ
baʿdihi
after Him
وَعَلَى
waʿalā
And on
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ
falyatawakkali
let put (their) trust
ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
l-mu'minūna
the believers
وَمَا كَانَ لِنَبِىٍّ أَن يَغُلَّۚ وَمَن يَغْلُلْ يَأْتِ بِمَا غَلَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِۚ ثُمَّ تُوَفَّىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا كَسَبَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ ﴿١٦١﴾

for a Prophet
أَن

that
يَغُلَّ ۚ
yaghulla
he defrauds
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
يَغْلُلْ

defrauds
يَأْتِ
yati
will bring
بِمَا
bimā
what
غَلَّ
ghalla
he had defrauded
يَوْمَ
yawma
(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚ
l-qiyāmati
(of) Resurrection
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
تُوَفَّىٰ
tuwaffā
is repaid in full
كُلُّ
kullu
every
نَفْسٍۢ
nafsin
soul
مَّا
mā
what
كَسَبَتْ
kasabat
it earned
وَهُمْ
wahum
and they
لَا
lā
(will) not
يُظْلَمُونَ
yuẓ'lamūna
be wronged
أَفَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَ رِضْوَٲنَ ٱللَّهِ كَمَنۢ بَآءَ بِسَخَطٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَمَأْوَٮٰهُ جَهَنَّمُۚ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ ﴿١٦٢﴾

ٱللَّهِ

draws
بِسَخَطٍۢ

on (himself) wrath
مِّنَ
mina

ٱللَّهِ

Allah
وَمَأْوَىٰهُ
wamawāhu
and his abode
جَهَنَّمُ ۚ
jahannamu
(is) hell
وَبِئْسَ
wabi'sa
and wretched
ٱلْمَصِيرُ
l-maṣīru
(is) the destination
هُمْ دَرَجَـٰتٌ عِندَ ٱللَّهِۗ وَٱللَّهُ بَصِيرُۢ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ ﴿١٦٣﴾

they do
لَقَدْ مَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِذْ بَعَثَ فِيهِمْ رَسُولاً مِّنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ يَتْلُواْ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَإِن كَانُواْ مِن قَبْلُ لَفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ ﴿١٦٤﴾

ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

فِيهِمْ

among them
رَسُولًۭا
rasūlan
a Messenger
مِّنْ
min
from
أَنفُسِهِمْ
anfusihim
themselves
يَتْلُوا۟
yatlū
reciting
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
to them
ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ
āyātihi
His Verses
وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ
wayuzakkīhim
and purifying them
وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ
wayuʿallimuhumu
and teaching them
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ
l-kitāba
the Book
وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ
wal-ḥik'mata
and the wisdom
وَإِن
wa-in
although
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they were
مِن
min
from
قَبْلُ
qablu
before (that)
لَفِى
lafī
certainly in
ضَلَـٰلٍۢ
ḍalālin
(the) error
مُّبِينٍ
mubīnin
clear
أَوَلَمَّآ أَصَـٰبَتْكُم مُّصِيبَةٌ قَدْ أَصَبْتُم مِّثْلَيْهَا قُلْتُمْ أَنَّىٰ هَـٰذَاۖ قُلْ هُوَ مِنْ عِندِ أَنفُسِكُمْۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ﴿١٦٥﴾

أَوَلَمَّآ
awalammā
Or when
أَصَـٰبَتْكُم
aṣābatkum
struck you
مُّصِيبَةٌۭ

disaster
قَدْ

surely
أَصَبْتُم

you (had) struck (them)
مِّثْلَيْهَا

twice of it
قُلْتُمْ

you said
أَنَّىٰ
annā
From where
هَـٰذَا ۖ
hādhā
(is) this
قُلْ

Say
هُوَ
huwa
It
مِنْ
min
(is)
عِندِ
ʿindi
from
أَنفُسِكُمْ ۗ
anfusikum
yourselves
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
(is) on
كُلِّ
kulli
every
شَىْءٍۢ
shayin
thing
قَدِيرٌۭ
qadīrun
All-Powerful
وَمَآ أَصَـٰبَكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْتَقَى ٱلْجَمْعَانِ فَبِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ﴿١٦٦﴾
Word-by-word
وَمَآ
wamā
And what
أَصَـٰبَكُمْ
aṣābakum
struck you
يَوْمَ
yawma
(on the) day
ٱلْتَقَى
l-taqā
(when) met
ٱلْجَمْعَانِ
l-jamʿāni
the two hosts
فَبِإِذْنِ
fabi-idh'ni
(was) by (the) permission
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَلِيَعْلَمَ
waliyaʿlama
and that He (might) make evident
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
l-mu'minīna
the believers
وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱلَّذِينَ نَافَقُواْۚ وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْاْ قَـٰتِلُواْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أَوِ ٱدْفَعُواْۖ قَالُواْ لَوْ نَعْلَمُ قِتَالاً لَّٱتَّبَعْنَـٰكُمْۗ هُمْ لِلْكُفْرِ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَقْرَبُ مِنْهُمْ لِلْإِيمَـٰنِۚ يَقُولُونَ بِأَفْوَٲهِهِم مَّا لَيْسَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمْۗ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَكْتُمُونَ ﴿١٦٧﴾

And that He (might) make evident
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
نَافَقُوا۟ ۚ
nāfaqū
(are) hypocrites
وَقِيلَ
waqīla
And it was said
لَهُمْ
lahum
to them
تَعَالَوْا۟
taʿālaw
Come
قَـٰتِلُوا۟
qātilū
fight
فِى
fī
in
سَبِيلِ
sabīli
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
أَوِ
awi
or
ٱدْفَعُوا۟ ۖ
id'faʿū
defend
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They said
لَوْ
law
If
نَعْلَمُ
naʿlamu
we knew
قِتَالًۭا
qitālan
fighting
لَّٱتَّبَعْنَـٰكُمْ ۗ
la-ittabaʿnākum
certainly we (would have) followed you
هُمْ
hum
They
لِلْكُفْرِ
lil'kuf'ri
to disbelief
يَوْمَئِذٍ
yawma-idhin
that day
أَقْرَبُ
aqrabu
(were) nearer
مِنْهُمْ
min'hum
than [them]
لِلْإِيمَـٰنِ ۚ
lil'īmāni
to the faith
يَقُولُونَ
yaqūlūna
saying
بِأَفْوَٰهِهِم
bi-afwāhihim
with their mouths
مَّا
mā
what
لَيْسَ
laysa
was not
فِى
fī
in
قُلُوبِهِمْ ۗ
qulūbihim
their hearts
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamu
(is) Most Knowing
بِمَا
bimā
of what
يَكْتُمُونَ
yaktumūna
they conceal
ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُواْ لِإِخْوَٲنِهِمْ وَقَعَدُواْ لَوْ أَطَاعُونَا مَا قُتِلُواْۗ قُلْ فَٱدْرَءُواْ عَنْ أَنفُسِكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ ﴿١٦٨﴾

Those who
قَالُوا۟

لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ

about their brothers
وَقَعَدُوا۟

they (had) obeyed us
مَا

not
قُتِلُوا۟ ۗ

they would have been killed

Say
فَٱدْرَءُوا۟

عَنْ
ʿan
from
أَنفُسِكُمُ
anfusikumu
yourselves
ٱلْمَوْتَ
l-mawta
[the] death
إِن
in
if
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you are
صَـٰدِقِينَ
ṣādiqīna
truthful
وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ قُتِلُواْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أَمْوَٲتَۢاۚ بَلْ أَحْيَآءٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ يُرْزَقُونَ ﴿١٦٩﴾

رَبِّهِمْ
rabbihim
their Lord
يُرْزَقُونَ
yur'zaqūna
they are given provision
فَرِحِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَـٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَيَسْتَبْشِرُونَ بِٱلَّذِينَ لَمْ يَلْحَقُواْ بِهِم مِّنْ خَلْفِهِمْ أَلَّا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ ﴿١٧٠﴾

yet joined
بِهِم
bihim
[with] them
مِّنْ
min
[from]
خَلْفِهِمْ
khalfihim
(but are) left behind
أَلَّا
allā
that (there will be) no
خَوْفٌ
khawfun
fear
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
on them
وَلَا
walā
and not
هُمْ
hum
they
يَحْزَنُونَ
yaḥzanūna
will grieve
۞ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ بِنِعْمَةٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَفَضْلٍ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ﴿١٧١﴾

ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَجَابُواْ لِلَّهِ وَٱلرَّسُولِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَآ أَصَابَهُمُ ٱلْقَرْحُۚ لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُواْ مِنْهُمْ وَٱتَّقَوْاْ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ ﴿١٧٢﴾

did good
مِنْهُمْ
min'hum
among them
وَٱتَّقَوْا۟
wa-ittaqaw
and feared Allah
أَجْرٌ
ajrun
(is) a reward
عَظِيمٌ
ʿaẓīmun
great
ٱلَّذِينَ قَالَ لَهُمُ ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ قَدْ جَمَعُواْ لَكُمْ فَٱخْشَوْهُمْ فَزَادَهُمْ إِيمَـٰنًا وَقَالُواْ حَسْبُنَا ٱللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ ٱلْوَكِيلُ ﴿١٧٣﴾

وَقَالُوا۟

and they said
حَسْبُنَا
ḥasbunā
Sufficient for us
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
(is) Allah
وَنِعْمَ
waniʿ'ma
and (He is the) best
ٱلْوَكِيلُ
l-wakīlu
[the] Disposer of affairs
فَٱنقَلَبُواْ بِنِعْمَةٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَفَضْلٍ لَّمْ يَمْسَسْهُمْ سُوٓءٌ وَٱتَّبَعُواْ رِضْوَٲنَ ٱللَّهِۗ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَظِيمٍ ﴿١٧٤﴾

رِضْوَٰنَ
riḍ'wāna
(the) pleasure
ٱللَّهِ ۗ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
and Allah
ذُو
dhū
(is) Possessor
فَضْلٍ
faḍlin
(of) Bounty
عَظِيمٍ
ʿaẓīmin
great
إِنَّمَا ذَٲلِكُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ يُخَوِّفُ أَوْلِيَآءَهُۥ فَلَا تَخَافُوهُمْ وَخَافُونِ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ﴿١٧٥﴾
