فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا لَضَآلُّونَ ﴿٢٦﴾

بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ ﴿٢٧﴾

قَالَ أَوْسَطُهُمْ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكُمْ لَوْلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ ﴿٢٨﴾

you glorify (Allah)?'

29

قَالُواْ سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ ﴿٢٩﴾

They said

سُبْحَـٰنَ

sub'ḥāna

Glory be

رَبِّنَآ

rabbinā

(to) our Lord

إِنَّا

Indeed, we

كُنَّا

kunnā

[we] were

wrongdoers

30

فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَلَـٰوَمُونَ ﴿٣٠﴾

فَأَقْبَلَ

Then approached

بَعْضُهُمْ

baʿḍuhum

some of them

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

to

بَعْضٍۢ

baʿḍin

others

يَتَلَـٰوَمُونَ

yatalāwamūna

blaming each other

31

قَالُواْ يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا طَـٰغِينَ ﴿٣١﴾

قَالُوا۟

They said

يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ

yāwaylanā

O woe to us

إِنَّا

innā

Indeed, we

كُنَّا

kunnā

[we] were

طَـٰغِينَ

ṭāghīna

transgressors

32

عَسَىٰ رَبُّنَآ أَن يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًا مِّنْهَآ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا رَٲغِبُونَ ﴿٣٢﴾

Perhaps

رَبُّنَآ

rabbunā

our Lord

أَن

يُبْدِلَنَا

yub'dilanā

will substitute for us

خَيْرًۭا

khayran

a better

مِّنْهَآ

than it

إِنَّآ

innā

Indeed, we

إِلَىٰ

ilā

to

رَبِّنَا

rabbinā

our Lord

رَٰغِبُونَ

rāghibūna

turn devoutly

33

كَذَٲلِكَ ٱلْعَذَابُ‌ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْأَخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ‌ۚ لَوْ كَانُواْ يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٣٣﴾

كَذَٰلِكَ

kadhālika

Such

ٱلْعَذَابُ ۖ

l-ʿadhābu

(is) the punishment

وَلَعَذَابُ

walaʿadhābu

And surely the punishment

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ

l-ākhirati

(of) the Hereafter

أَكْبَرُ ۚ

akbaru

(is) greater

لَوْ

law

if

كَانُوا۟

kānū

they

يَعْلَمُونَ

yaʿlamūna

know

34

إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ﴿٣٤﴾

إِنَّ

inna

Indeed

لِلْمُتَّقِينَ

lil'muttaqīna

for the righteous

عِندَ

ʿinda

with

رَبِّهِمْ

rabbihim

their Lord

جَنَّـٰتِ

jannāti

(are) Gardens

ٱلنَّعِيمِ

l-naʿīmi

(of) Delight

35

أَفَنَجْعَلُ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ كَٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ﴿٣٥﴾

أَفَنَجْعَلُ

afanajʿalu

Then will We treat

ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ

l-mus'limīna

the Muslims

كَٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ

kal-muj'rimīna

like the criminals

36

مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ ﴿٣٦﴾

أَمْ لَكُمْ أَيْمَـٰنٌ عَلَيْنَا بَـٰلِغَةٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ‌ۙ إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُونَ ﴿٣٩﴾

عَلَيْنَا

تَحْكُمُونَ

taḥkumūna

you judge

40

سَلْهُمْ أَيُّهُم بِذَٲلِكَ زَعِيمٌ ﴿٤٠﴾

Ask them

أَيُّهُم

بِذَٰلِكَ

زَعِيمٌ

41

أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَآءُ فَلْيَأْتُواْ بِشُرَكَآئِهِمْ إِن كَانُواْ صَـٰدِقِينَ ﴿٤١﴾

42

يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَن سَاقٍ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ ﴿٤٢﴾

(The) Day

يُكْشَفُ

yuk'shafu

will be uncovered

سَاقٍۢ

وَيُدْعَوْنَ

43

خَـٰشِعَةً أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ‌ۖ وَقَدْ كَانُواْ يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَـٰلِمُونَ ﴿٤٣﴾

خَـٰشِعَةً

khāshiʿatan

Humbled

أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ

abṣāruhum

their eyes

تَرْهَقُهُمْ

tarhaquhum

will cover them

ذِلَّةٌۭ ۖ

dhillatun

humiliation

وَقَدْ

waqad

And indeed

كَانُوا۟

kānū

they were

يُدْعَوْنَ

yud'ʿawna

called

إِلَى

ilā

to

ٱلسُّجُودِ

l-sujūdi

prostrate

وَهُمْ

wahum

while they

سَـٰلِمُونَ

sālimūna

(were) sound

44

فَذَرْنِى وَمَن يُكَذِّبُ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ‌ۖ سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُم مِّنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٤٤﴾

فَذَرْنِى

fadharnī

So leave Me

وَمَن

waman

and whoever

يُكَذِّبُ

yukadhibu

denies

بِهَـٰذَا

bihādhā

ٱلْحَدِيثِ ۖ

Statement

سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُم

sanastadrijuhum

We will progressively lead them

مِّنْ

from

حَيْثُ

ḥaythu

where

لَا

not

يَعْلَمُونَ

yaʿlamūna

they know

45

وَأُمْلِى لَهُمْ‌ۚ إِنَّ كَيْدِى مَتِينٌ ﴿٤٥﴾

And I will give respite

لَهُمْ ۚ

lahum

to them

إِنَّ

Indeed

46

أَمْ تَسْــَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ ﴿٤٦﴾

you ask them

47

أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ ﴿٤٧﴾

(is) with them

ٱلْغَيْبُ

فَهُمْ

يَكْتُبُونَ

48

فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُن كَصَاحِبِ ٱلْحُوتِ إِذْ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌ ﴿٤٨﴾

فَٱصْبِرْ

fa-iṣ'bir

So be patient

لِحُكْمِ

for (the) decision

رَبِّكَ

(of) your Lord

وَلَا

نَادَىٰ

he called out

وَهُوَ

مَكْظُومٌۭ

makẓūmun

(was) distressed

49

لَّوْلَآ أَن تَدَٲرَكَهُۥ نِعْمَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ لَنُبِذَ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ مَذْمُومٌ ﴿٤٩﴾

(was) blamed

50

فَٱجْتَبَـٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَجَعَلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ ﴿٥٠﴾

fa-ij'tabāhu

But chose him

رَبُّهُۥ

rabbuhu

his Lord

فَجَعَلَهُۥ

fajaʿalahu

and made him

مِنَ

mina

of

ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ

l-ṣāliḥīna

the righteous
