الأنعام

وَهُمْ

wahum

And they

يَنْهَوْنَ

yanhawna

forbid (others)

عَنْهُ

ʿanhu

from it

وَيَنْـَٔوْنَ

wayanawna

and they keep away

عَنْهُ ۖ

ʿanhu

from it

وَإِن

wa-in

And not

يُهْلِكُونَ

yuh'likūna

they destroy

إِلَّآ

illā

except

أَنفُسَهُمْ

anfusahum

themselves

وَمَا

wamā

and not

يَشْعُرُونَ

yashʿurūna

they perceive

وَلَوْ

walaw

And if

تَرَىٰٓ

tarā

you (could) see

إِذْ

idh

when

وُقِفُوا۟

wuqifū

they are made to stand

عَلَى

ʿalā

by

ٱلنَّارِ

l-nāri

the Fire

فَقَالُوا۟

faqālū

then they (will) say

يَـٰلَيْتَنَا

yālaytanā

Oh! Would that we

نُرَدُّ

nuraddu

were sent back

وَلَا

walā

and not

نُكَذِّبَ

nukadhiba

we would deny

بِـَٔايَـٰتِ

biāyāti

(the) Signs

رَبِّنَا

rabbinā

(of) our Lord

وَنَكُونَ

wanakūna

and we would be

مِنَ

mina

among

ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

l-mu'minīna

the believers

بَلْ

bal

Nay

بَدَا

badā

became manifest

لَهُم

lahum

for them

مَّا

mā

what

كَانُوا۟

kānū

they used to

يُخْفُونَ

yukh'fūna

conceal

مِن

min

from

قَبْلُ ۖ

qablu

before

وَلَوْ

walaw

And if

رُدُّوا۟

ruddū

they were sent back

لَعَادُوا۟

laʿādū

certainly they (would) return

لِمَا

limā

to what

نُهُوا۟

nuhū

they were forbidden

عَنْهُ

ʿanhu

from it

وَإِنَّهُمْ

wa-innahum

and indeed they

لَكَـٰذِبُونَ

lakādhibūna

certainly are liars

وَقَالُوٓا۟

waqālū

And they said

إِنْ

in

Not

هِىَ

hiya

it (is)

إِلَّا

illā

except

حَيَاتُنَا

ḥayātunā

our life

ٱلدُّنْيَا

l-dun'yā

(of) the world

وَمَا

wamā

and not

نَحْنُ

naḥnu

we

بِمَبْعُوثِينَ

bimabʿūthīna

(will be) resurrected

وَلَوْ

walaw

And if

تَرَىٰٓ

tarā

you (could) see

إِذْ

idh

when

وُقِفُوا۟

wuqifū

they will be made to stand

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

before

رَبِّهِمْ ۚ

rabbihim

their Lord

قَالَ

qāla

He (will) say

أَلَيْسَ

alaysa

Is not

هَـٰذَا

hādhā

this

بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ

bil-ḥaqi

the truth

قَالُوا۟

qālū

They will say

بَلَىٰ

balā

Yes

وَرَبِّنَا ۚ

warabbinā

by our Lord

قَالَ

qāla

He (will) say

فَذُوقُوا۟

fadhūqū

So taste

ٱلْعَذَابَ

l-ʿadhāba

the punishment

بِمَا

bimā

because

كُنتُمْ

kuntum

you used to

تَكْفُرُونَ

takfurūna

disbelieve

قَدْ

qad

Indeed

خَسِرَ

khasira

incurred loss

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

كَذَّبُوا۟

kadhabū

denied

بِلِقَآءِ

biliqāi

in (the) meeting

ٱللَّهِ ۖ

l-lahi

(with) Allah

حَتَّىٰٓ

ḥattā

until

إِذَا

idhā

when

جَآءَتْهُمُ

jāathumu

came to them

ٱلسَّاعَةُ

l-sāʿatu

the Hour

بَغْتَةًۭ

baghtatan

suddenly

قَالُوا۟

qālū

they said

يَـٰحَسْرَتَنَا

yāḥasratanā

Oh! Our regret

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

over

مَا

mā

what

فَرَّطْنَا

farraṭnā

we neglected

فِيهَا

fīhā

concerning it

وَهُمْ

wahum

while they

يَحْمِلُونَ

yaḥmilūna

will bear

أَوْزَارَهُمْ

awzārahum

their burdens

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

on

ظُهُورِهِمْ ۚ

ẓuhūrihim

their backs

أَلَا

alā

Unquestionably

سَآءَ

sāa

Evil

مَا

mā

(is) what

يَزِرُونَ

yazirūna

they bear

وَمَا

wamā

And not

ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ

l-ḥayatu

(is) the life

ٱلدُّنْيَآ

l-dun'yā

(of) the world

إِلَّا

illā

except

لَعِبٌۭ

laʿibun

a play

وَلَهْوٌۭ ۖ

walahwun

and amusement

وَلَلدَّارُ

walalddāru

but the home

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ

l-ākhiratu

(of) the Hereafter

خَيْرٌۭ

khayrun

(is) best

لِّلَّذِينَ

lilladhīna

for those who

يَتَّقُونَ ۗ

yattaqūna

(are) God conscious

أَفَلَا

afalā

Then not

تَعْقِلُونَ

taʿqilūna

(will) you reason

قَدْ

qad

Indeed

نَعْلَمُ

naʿlamu

We know

إِنَّهُۥ

innahu

that it

لَيَحْزُنُكَ

layaḥzunuka

grieves you

ٱلَّذِى

alladhī

what

يَقُولُونَ ۖ

yaqūlūna

they say

فَإِنَّهُمْ

fa-innahum

And indeed, they

لَا

lā

(do) not

يُكَذِّبُونَكَ

yukadhibūnaka

deny you

وَلَـٰكِنَّ

walākinna

but

ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

l-ẓālimīna

the wrongdoers

بِـَٔايَـٰتِ

biāyāti

the Verses

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

(of) Allah

يَجْحَدُونَ

yajḥadūna

they reject

وَلَقَدْ

walaqad

And surely

كُذِّبَتْ

kudhibat

were rejected

رُسُلٌۭ

rusulun

Messengers

مِّن

min

from

قَبْلِكَ

qablika

before you

فَصَبَرُوا۟

faṣabarū

but they were patient

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

over

مَا

mā

what

كُذِّبُوا۟

kudhibū

they were rejected

وَأُوذُوا۟

waūdhū

and they were harmed

حَتَّىٰٓ

ḥattā

until

أَتَىٰهُمْ

atāhum

came to them

نَصْرُنَا ۚ

naṣrunā

Our help

وَلَا

walā

And no

مُبَدِّلَ

mubaddila

one (can) alter

لِكَلِمَـٰتِ

likalimāti

(the) words

ٱللَّهِ ۚ

l-lahi

(of) Allah

وَلَقَدْ

walaqad

and surely

جَآءَكَ

jāaka

has come to you

مِن

min

of

نَّبَإِى۟

naba-i

(the) news

ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

l-mur'salīna

(of) the Messengers

وَإِن

wa-in

And if

كَانَ

kāna

is

كَبُرَ

kabura

difficult

عَلَيْكَ

ʿalayka

for you

إِعْرَاضُهُمْ

iʿ'rāḍuhum

their aversion

فَإِنِ

fa-ini

then if

ٱسْتَطَعْتَ

is'taṭaʿta

you are able

أَن

an

to

تَبْتَغِىَ

tabtaghiya

seek

نَفَقًۭا

nafaqan

a tunnel

فِى

fī

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

l-arḍi

the earth

أَوْ

aw

or

سُلَّمًۭا

sullaman

a ladder

فِى

fī

into

ٱلسَّمَآءِ

l-samāi

the sky

فَتَأْتِيَهُم

fatatiyahum

so that you bring to them

بِـَٔايَةٍۢ ۚ

biāyatin

a Sign

وَلَوْ

walaw

But if

شَآءَ

shāa

(had) willed

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

لَجَمَعَهُمْ

lajamaʿahum

surely He (would) have gathered them

عَلَى

ʿalā

on

ٱلْهُدَىٰ ۚ

l-hudā

the guidance

فَلَا

falā

So (do) not

تَكُونَنَّ

takūnanna

be

مِنَ

mina

of

ٱلْجَـٰهِلِينَ

l-jāhilīna

the ignorant

۞ إِنَّمَا

innamā

Only

يَسْتَجِيبُ

yastajību

respond

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

يَسْمَعُونَ ۘ

yasmaʿūna

listen

وَٱلْمَوْتَىٰ

wal-mawtā

But the dead

يَبْعَثُهُمُ

yabʿathuhumu

will resurrect them

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

ثُمَّ

thumma

then

إِلَيْهِ

ilayhi

to Him

يُرْجَعُونَ

yur'jaʿūna

they will be returned

وَقَالُوا۟

waqālū

And they said

لَوْلَا

lawlā

Why (is) not

نُزِّلَ

nuzzila

sent down

عَلَيْهِ

ʿalayhi

to him

ءَايَةٌۭ

āyatun

a Sign

مِّن

min

from

رَّبِّهِۦ ۚ

rabbihi

his Lord

قُلْ

qul

Say

إِنَّ

inna

Indeed

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

Allah

قَادِرٌ

qādirun

(is) Able

عَلَىٰٓ

ʿalā

[on]

أَن

an

to

يُنَزِّلَ

yunazzila

send down

ءَايَةًۭ

āyatan

a Sign

وَلَـٰكِنَّ

walākinna

but

أَكْثَرَهُمْ

aktharahum

most of them

لَا

lā

(do) not

يَعْلَمُونَ

yaʿlamūna

know

وَمَا

wamā

And not

مِن

min

[of]

دَآبَّةٍۢ

dābbatin

any animal

فِى

fī

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

l-arḍi

the earth

وَلَا

walā

and not

طَـٰٓئِرٍۢ

ṭāirin

a bird

يَطِيرُ

yaṭīru

(that) flies

بِجَنَاحَيْهِ

bijanāḥayhi

with its wings

إِلَّآ

illā

but

أُمَمٌ

umamun

(are) communities

أَمْثَالُكُم ۚ

amthālukum

like you

مَّا

mā

Not

فَرَّطْنَا

farraṭnā

We have neglected

فِى

fī

in

ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ

l-kitābi

the Book

مِن

min

[of]

شَىْءٍۢ ۚ

shayin

anything

ثُمَّ

thumma

then

إِلَىٰ

ilā

to

رَبِّهِمْ

rabbihim

their Lord

يُحْشَرُونَ

yuḥ'sharūna

they will be gathered

وَٱلَّذِينَ

wa-alladhīna

And those who

كَذَّبُوا۟

kadhabū

rejected

بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا

biāyātinā

Our Verses

صُمٌّۭ

ṣummun

(are) deaf

وَبُكْمٌۭ

wabuk'mun

and dumb

فِى

fī

in

ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ ۗ

l-ẓulumāti

the darkness[es]

مَن

man

Whoever

يَشَإِ

yasha-i

wills

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

يُضْلِلْهُ

yuḍ'lil'hu

He lets him go astray

وَمَن

waman

and whoever

يَشَأْ

yasha

He wills

يَجْعَلْهُ

yajʿalhu

He places him

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

on

صِرَٰطٍۢ

ṣirāṭin

(the) way

مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ

mus'taqīmin

(the) straight

قُلْ

qul

Say

أَرَءَيْتَكُمْ

ara-aytakum

Have you seen

إِنْ

in

if

أَتَىٰكُمْ

atākum

(there) came to you

عَذَابُ

ʿadhābu

punishment

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

(of) Allah

أَوْ

aw

or

أَتَتْكُمُ

atatkumu

(there) came to you

ٱلسَّاعَةُ

l-sāʿatu

the Hour

أَغَيْرَ

aghayra

is it other

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

(than) Allah

تَدْعُونَ

tadʿūna

you call

إِن

in

if

كُنتُمْ

kuntum

you are

صَـٰدِقِينَ

ṣādiqīna

truthful

بَلْ

bal

Nay

إِيَّاهُ

iyyāhu

Him Alone

تَدْعُونَ

tadʿūna

you call

فَيَكْشِفُ

fayakshifu

and He would remove

مَا

mā

what

تَدْعُونَ

tadʿūna

you call

إِلَيْهِ

ilayhi

upon Him

إِن

in

if

شَآءَ

shāa

He wills

وَتَنسَوْنَ

watansawna

and you will forget

مَا

mā

what

تُشْرِكُونَ

tush'rikūna

you associate (with Him)

وَلَقَدْ

walaqad

And certainly

أَرْسَلْنَآ

arsalnā

We sent (Messengers)

إِلَىٰٓ

ilā

to

أُمَمٍۢ

umamin

nations

مِّن

min

from

قَبْلِكَ

qablika

before you

فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُم

fa-akhadhnāhum

then We seized them

بِٱلْبَأْسَآءِ

bil-basāi

with adversity

وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ

wal-ḍarāi

and hardship

لَعَلَّهُمْ

laʿallahum

so that they may

يَتَضَرَّعُونَ

yataḍarraʿūna

humble themselves

فَلَوْلَآ

falawlā

Then why not

إِذْ

idh

when

جَآءَهُم

jāahum

came to them

بَأْسُنَا

basunā

Our punishment

تَضَرَّعُوا۟

taḍarraʿū

they humbled themselves

وَلَـٰكِن

walākin

But

قَسَتْ

qasat

became hardened

قُلُوبُهُمْ

qulūbuhum

their hearts

وَزَيَّنَ

wazayyana

and made fair-seeming

لَهُمُ

lahumu

to them

ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ

l-shayṭānu

the Shaitaan

مَا

mā

what

كَانُوا۟

kānū

they used to

يَعْمَلُونَ

yaʿmalūna

do

فَلَمَّا

falammā

So when

نَسُوا۟

nasū

they forgot

مَا

mā

what

ذُكِّرُوا۟

dhukkirū

they were reminded

بِهِۦ

bihi

of [it]

فَتَحْنَا

fataḥnā

We opened

عَلَيْهِمْ

ʿalayhim

on them

أَبْوَٰبَ

abwāba

gates

كُلِّ

kulli

(of) every

شَىْءٍ

shayin

thing

حَتَّىٰٓ

ḥattā

until

إِذَا

idhā

when

فَرِحُوا۟

fariḥū

they rejoiced

بِمَآ

bimā

in what

أُوتُوٓا۟

ūtū

they were given

أَخَذْنَـٰهُم

akhadhnāhum

We seized them

بَغْتَةًۭ

baghtatan

suddenly

فَإِذَا

fa-idhā

and then

هُم

hum

they

مُّبْلِسُونَ

mub'lisūna

(were) dumbfounded

فَقُطِعَ

faquṭiʿa

So was cut off

دَابِرُ

dābiru

(the) remnant

ٱلْقَوْمِ

l-qawmi

(of) the people

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

[those] who

ظَلَمُوا۟ ۚ

ẓalamū

did wrong

وَٱلْحَمْدُ

wal-ḥamdu

And all praises and thanks

لِلَّهِ

lillahi

(be) to Allah

رَبِّ

rabbi

Lord

ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

l-ʿālamīna

(of) the worlds

قُلْ

qul

Say

أَرَءَيْتُمْ

ara-aytum

Have you seen

إِنْ

in

if

أَخَذَ

akhadha

took away

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

سَمْعَكُمْ

samʿakum

your hearing

وَأَبْصَـٰرَكُمْ

wa-abṣārakum

and your sight

وَخَتَمَ

wakhatama

and sealed

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

[on]

قُلُوبِكُم

qulūbikum

your hearts

مَّنْ

man

who

إِلَـٰهٌ

ilāhun

(is the) god

غَيْرُ

ghayru

other than

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

Allah

يَأْتِيكُم

yatīkum

to bring [back] to you

بِهِ ۗ

bihi

with it

ٱنظُرْ

unẓur

See

كَيْفَ

kayfa

how

نُصَرِّفُ

nuṣarrifu

We explain

ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ

l-āyāti

the Signs

ثُمَّ

thumma

yet

هُمْ

hum

they

يَصْدِفُونَ

yaṣdifūna

turn away

قُلْ

qul

Say

أَرَءَيْتَكُمْ

ara-aytakum

Have you seen

إِنْ

in

if

أَتَىٰكُمْ

atākum

comes to you

عَذَابُ

ʿadhābu

punishment

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

(of) Allah

بَغْتَةً

baghtatan

suddenly

أَوْ

aw

or

جَهْرَةً

jahratan

openly

هَلْ

hal

will

يُهْلَكُ

yuh'laku

(any) be destroyed

إِلَّا

illā

except

ٱلْقَوْمُ

l-qawmu

the people

ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ

l-ẓālimūna

the wrongdoers

وَمَا

wamā

And not

نُرْسِلُ

nur'silu

We send

ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

l-mur'salīna

the Messengers

إِلَّا

illā

except

مُبَشِّرِينَ

mubashirīna

(as) bearer of glad tidings

وَمُنذِرِينَ ۖ

wamundhirīna

and (as) warners

فَمَنْ

faman

So whoever

ءَامَنَ

āmana

believed

وَأَصْلَحَ

wa-aṣlaḥa

and reformed

فَلَا

falā

then no

خَوْفٌ

khawfun

fear

عَلَيْهِمْ

ʿalayhim

upon them

وَلَا

walā

and not

هُمْ

hum

they

يَحْزَنُونَ

yaḥzanūna

will grieve

وَٱلَّذِينَ

wa-alladhīna

And those who

كَذَّبُوا۟

kadhabū

denied

بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا

biāyātinā

[in] Our Verses

يَمَسُّهُمُ

yamassuhumu

will touch them

ٱلْعَذَابُ

l-ʿadhābu

the punishment

بِمَا

bimā

for what

كَانُوا۟

kānū

they used to

يَفْسُقُونَ

yafsuqūna

defiantly disobey

قُل

qul

Say

لَّآ

lā

Not

أَقُولُ

aqūlu

(do) I say

لَكُمْ

lakum

to you

عِندِى

ʿindī

(that) with me

خَزَآئِنُ

khazāinu

(are the) treasures

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

(of) Allah

وَلَآ

walā

and not

أَعْلَمُ

aʿlamu

(that) I know

ٱلْغَيْبَ

l-ghayba

the unseen

وَلَآ

walā

and not

أَقُولُ

aqūlu

I say

لَكُمْ

lakum

to you

إِنِّى

innī

that I (am)

مَلَكٌ ۖ

malakun

an Angel

إِنْ

in

Not

أَتَّبِعُ

attabiʿu

(do) I follow

إِلَّا

illā

except

مَا

mā

what

يُوحَىٰٓ

yūḥā

is revealed

إِلَىَّ ۚ

ilayya

to me

قُلْ

qul

Say

هَلْ

hal

Can

يَسْتَوِى

yastawī

be equal

ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ

l-aʿmā

the blind

وَٱلْبَصِيرُ ۚ

wal-baṣīru

and the seeing one

أَفَلَا

afalā

Then will not

تَتَفَكَّرُونَ

tatafakkarūna

you give thought
